What if I can’t make it?

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to your graduation ceremony - your degree will still be officially awarded to you in your absence. Your certificate and transcript will be returned to Arden University, ready for despatch via post. You’ll be contacted by our graduation team after the ceremony to arrange delivery.

If you know that you won’t be attending the ceremony, please get in touch on graduation@arden.ac.uk and we will try to stop any further communications coming to you.

If you have purchased tickets for guests and either they or yourself can no longer attend then you may be entitled to a refund provided you contact us on or before 10th June 2019. You can do this directly via Ede and Ravenscroft once you have an account set up with them.

How will my name appear on my certificate and transcript?

Your name will appear as it appears on your student record. If your name is incorrect, or if you wish to add any middle name(s), you can email your request for amends along with a photocopy of your birth certificate or passport to graduation@arden.ac.uk. We cannot amend your name without photographic evidence.

Please take care when registering your name, as we are unable to change this once the registration deadline has passed and the ceremony guide has been printed.

Outstanding Debts

You are not eligible to graduate if you have outstanding debt. It is Arden University’s policy to withhold your certificate and transcript until the debt has been paid.

Can you provide me with a visa letter if required?

If you are an Arden University graduand then you can get a scanned copy of your award letter, this should be sufficient for visa applications.

If you are a Pearson graduand and you require a letter of completion for a visa application please contact us on graduation@arden.ac.uk and we will be happy to assist you.

On the Day

What time should I arrive?

We recommend you arrive approximately 2hrs before your ceremony starts at 2pm. You can arrive earlier than this if you’d like to - registration and ticket collection will be open from 11am.

This will give you time to check-in, collect your tickets and gown, then have your official photographs taken.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Make your way to the registration and ticket collection desk, which is situated in St. Michael’s House next to the Cathedral. The address is 1 Hill Top, Coventry, CV1 5AB.

Ticket Collection

The registration and ticket collection desk will be open from 11am in St. Michael’s House. It’s just next to the Cathedral - don’t worry, it will be clearly signposted on the day. You’ll need to show your confirmation email, either printed or on your smart phone and provide photographic ID before we can release your tickets to you.

All students must collect their tickets on the day in person no later than 1pm. As St. Michael’s House is quite small, students are required to register on their own while guests wait outside. If you do not collect your tickets, neither you nor your guests will be able to gain access to the Cathedral for the ceremony.

Gown Collection

Once you have registered and collected your tickets, you’ll then proceed to collect your cap and gown. This is also within St. Michael’s House. Show your ticket to a member of staff who will provide you with your academic dress and assist you with robing.

Is there a cloakroom available?

Unfortunately, there is no cloakroom service. Graduands are advised to leave any coats or bags with their guests where possible.

Official Photography

There will be official photographers on the day to capture that perfect picture for your mantelpiece, which you’ll be looking back on in years to come.

The service is provided by Ede and Ravenscroft. You can pre-order your photography package up to 10 days before the ceremony, or alternatively you can wait and buy on the day.

Read Ede and Ravenscroft’s frequently asked questions about photography.

Where and when do I take my seat?

All students will have allocated seating on the day. Guest seating is on a first come, first served basis.

All attendees are asked to take their seats at least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Please ensure you take your seats promptly as you will not be able to enter the Cathedral once the ceremony has begun. Both students and guests will need to present their tickets for inspection in order to gain access to the Cathedral.

Post-Ceremony Drinks Reception

Following the ceremony, guests can meet up with graduates at our drinks reception, where you’ll be given a complementary glass of fizz! This will take place within the Cathedral.

Returning the gown

The desk to return your gown will be situated within the Cathedral, next to where your drinks reception will take place. All gowns must be returned by 6pm at the very latest.

If you wish to hire your gown for a longer period of time you can extend for a further 7 days for a fee of £20 – you should arrange this through your Ede and Ravenscroft account ahead of the ceremony. You will be able to collect a returns bag on the day if you are extending your hire period.

Enjoy your day

Don't forget to relax and enjoy your day. Your fellow students and tutors will be around to chat with you and you will have time to enjoy the historic grounds of Coventry Cathedral, which can provide a charming setting for your own personal photographs.
