We take our critical Information function seriously, as it is essential to our integrity as a University. In this role you will be the key Information Lead in the organisation, responsible for the timely and accurate provision of Information for regulatory requirements to internal and external stakeholders which include The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and The Office for Students (OfS). Furthermore, working with Arden’s Executive, Senior Team and Functional Heads, you will also continuously drive Arden’s internal capabilities in data collection, use, management and governance.

Reporting to the Registrar, you will provide leadership and be the driving force for delivery of an outstanding Planning and Information function. Working closely with the Registrar, and with all functions ‘on-the-ground’, it will be your responsibility to make sure that Planning and Information plays a critical and successful role at this exciting stage in our development.

Assessment Coordinator

Vacancy: Assessment Coordinator

The role

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and forward-thinking Administrator, to join our busy Academic Resources Department.

Working in close partnership with the Online Resources manager and the academic programme teams the post holder is responsible for the project co-ordination and timely delivery of online assessment briefs for both the distance and blended learning courses, to the scheduled assessment periods for the academic year. Tasks will include:

- Day-to-day communication and liaison with module leaders/PTLs to coordinate production of assessment brief documents

- Undertaking quality checks of assessment brief content to organise correction, through MLs/PTLs where required) to ensure accuracy prior to publication

- Undertaking a range of administrative task, including confirming fees with MLs / PTLs, raising/managing purchase orders, etc.

- Effective version control/management of Assessment brief documents

- Management and development of storage of assessment brief documents for access by all stakeholders/systems

Personal Profile

You will be a skilled administrator with proven communication and inter-personal skills with some experience of developing process efficiencies, effective version control, persuasion, influencing, negotiation and occasionally, conflict management. You should be a team player who can work with others to achieve goals, but also able to work using your own initiative.

The role

You will work as part of the Academic Resources team within Arden, delivering the day-to-day administration of the Arden academic contracted tutor network. This will involve working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the Arden business contributing to the delivery of an excellent student experience by ensuring the quality, accuracy and timely availability of contract tutor resources.

Personal Profile

You will have enthusiasm and passion for delivering excellent customer service. An ability to communicate effectively and articulately, both verbally and in writing.

You will also have excellent organisational, administration and time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. A proactive attitude to task completion and problem resolution and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve common goals.

You will be expected to take ownership for delivering excellence in your areas of responsibility

You will be IT literate, e.g. have a solid grasp of common software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

It is desirable that you have previous experience in an education environment, of working in an office, at least GCSE in English and Maths and experience of using Moodle or other VLEs

The role

Reporting to the Head of the Business School, the post-holder will have responsibility for planning and managing the delivery of the ‘Augmented Delivery’ project. This project impacts upon the whole of Arden’s blended learning provision and seeks to increase the quality and reliability of our delivery across all campuses.

You will have experience of running multi-faceted projects and operating within challenging deadlines. You will be strong at planning, prioritising and managing relationships effectively to deliver sustainable, high quality outcomes.

Your experience in forging cross team relationships and delivering service improvements in collaboration with a range of cross-functional colleagues has provided you with exceptional interpersonal skills. Senior Developer (VLE)

Vacancy: Senior Developer (VLE)

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and talented senior developer to join our rapidly expanding IT team. Working in collaboration with other team members and on your own, you will be responsible for developing the front-end and back-end of the Moodle-based platform (VLE/LMS) and will also be involved in identifying new, innovative methods of digital learning content and delivery in collaboration with the module development team.

Personal Profile

Essential skills:

  • Experience of administering Moodle and developing custom plugins
  • Experience of integrating web services and RESTful APIs.
  • In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery & AJAX
  • Working knowledge of CSS pre-processors (SASS, LESS)
  • Strong experience in responsive web design
  • At least 2 years of commercial OOP PHP development
  • Strong MySQL database knowledge
  • Use of version control systems such as Git
  • Linux Shell scripting
  • Experience of behat testing

Other desirable skills include:

  • Experience of creating design wireframes
  • Distil complex requirements in to good UX and UI designs
  • Experience of working with stakeholders to decipher project requirements
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new skills and development methods
