If you’ve previously completed an HND in Business or an equivalent qualification, this top-up will help you transform that qualification into a full undergraduate business degree in as little as eight months.

The business top-up will enhance your knowledge of business practices and help you secure your seat at the board room table or get to grips with run your own business.

This fast-track route is the equivalent of the final year of undergraduate study and can be a low-cost, time-efficient way to open new career opportunities.

We use a wide variety of assessment methods, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in more ways than one. These could include:

To support your development and ensure that you’re on the right track with your studies, you’ll receive tutor feedback for every assessment you submit.

If required, your tutor may be able to give you suggestions and tips for improvement and help you understand how to apply your newly acquired skills into real-life settings.

Entry Requirements

This course has standard entry requirements.

To be eligible for this course through the standard entry requirements you must have a HND in business or equivalent. Your prior learning must be consistent with Level 5 of the functional areas of business: finance, marketing, HRM and operations management.

Non-native English speaker?

If your prior learning was not taught in English we require IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no less than 5.5 in any element). Get in touch with any questions.

What can a business top-up do for me?

When you complete the business top-up, you’ll have an undergraduate degree. This means that you’ll be no different to those who graduated with a business degree after a full three years at university.

Once you complete this course, you will:

Funding

You can support your study in a variety of ways.

If you are a UK student, the most common funding of undergraduate degrees is a Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government. The key information about these loans is:

  • You must be a UK resident
  • You can get a loan to cover the full cost of your tuition fees
  • You only start to pay it back when you are earning over £21,000 a year.
  • Your tuition fees are paid directly to the University by the loan company.

Self-funding - Pay in full or Pay as you go options

You can pay for your course all in one go if you have the funds. There is typically up to 10% off the total price if you pay this way. You can also pay as you go. This means you have no monthly obligations and simply pay for each module when you decide to study it.

Sponsorship

Pay in full

Pay in instalments

You can make payments over the course of their studies using our fixed payment schedule. Students will be entered into a schedule which runs alongside their course and splits their programme fees into a series of instalments.

If you study a blended learning programme, you’ll attend classes two or three days a week at your chosen study centre. You can find our study centres in:

If you’re not 100% comfortable with university level study choosing 4 year degree would be a smart choice. The first year is designed to give you the basics needed to successfully complete the rest of the degree as it focuses on essential study skills. You will build your confidence and become a capable, well equipped student who is able to complete the full degree.

The four year degree is perfect for you if:

  • It’s been a while since you studied
  • You don’t feel you did well in previous academic study
  • You want to improve your time management skills
  • You’re not confident in writing assignments and would like some support
  • You want to learn research skill that can support your studies and assignments
  • You want some extra knowledge of the degree subject before beginning the course.

This foundation year is part of the full degree. If you are funding your degree by Tuition Fee Loan from the UK Government, your tuition fee for the foundation year will also be covered in this loan.
